Oregon’s Culinary Community Raises Nearly $4,000 for The Wetlands ConservancyBusinesses Raise Funds & Awareness During ‘National Wetlands Month’
To celebrate American Wetlands Month in May, retail stores, local producers and restaurants raised nearly $4,000 for The Wetlands Conservancy (TWC), an Oregon non-profit that conserves and restores Oregon’s greatest wetlands.
Restaurants throughout the state participated in a month-long Aqua Plate Special. Each restaurant donated ten percent of proceeds from one dish that featured seafood deemed sustainable by the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s “Seafood Watch” program to TWC, totaling nearly $2500. Partner restaurants included:
New Seasons Market
During the month, New Seasons Market contributed $1.00 for each pound of Oregon shrimp meat sold and $1.00 for each Farm Plate Special (an Oregon shrimp quesadilla), for a total of more than $1,600.
Pacific Natural Foods
Pacific Natural Foods donated a portion of profits from non-dairy and ready-to-drink beverages for a total of more than $1,000.
